The Five-Minute Travel Face: My Go-To Makeup for Long Days

Fresh, glowing and done in five minutes: the minimal makeup routine that survives flights, heat and long days of sightseeing.

When I travel, I want makeup that looks like good skin, lasts from breakfast to dinner and takes five minutes in a hotel mirror. This is the routine.

1. Skin prep (1 minute)

Moisturiser and SPF, then a pea-sized amount of hydrating primer only where you get shiny.

Makeup that looks like good skin, lasts from breakfast to dinner and takes five minutes in a hotel mirror.

2. Even skin tone (1 minute)

A skin tint or tinted SPF pressed in with fingers, plus concealer only where you need it: under the eyes and around the nose.

3. Colour (1 minute)

A cream blush tapped on the cheeks and over the eyelids for a monochrome look. It photographs beautifully in natural light.

4. Brows and lashes (1 minute)

A clear or tinted brow gel brushed upward, and one coat of a water-resistant mascara.

5. Lips and set (1 minute)

A tinted balm or lip oil, then a light mist of setting spray to keep everything in place in the heat.

Choose cream textures over powders when you travel: they melt into skin and survive humidity.
